CANDLEWOOD LAKE

Established in 1926, Candlewood Lake is Connecticut's largest lake and a popular year-round destination. With its scenic shorelines, charming lakeside towns, and lush surroundings, the lake is perfect for boating, swimming, fishing, and water sports. While summer draws the biggest crowds, Candlewood Lake also offers winter activities like ice fishing and other seasonal sports. Located in Western Connecticut, it’s easily accessible from major cities, including New York City.


Candlewood Lake stretches approximately 11 miles in length and reaches up to 2 miles at its widest point, and the lake reaches a maximum depth of about 85 feet, with an average depth of 29.3 feet. These dimensions make Candlewood Lake a perfect setting for boating, fishing, swimming, and other recreational activities.
